Working GW Player Mk. II interface with transport, playlist, volume, balance, seek, and ten-band EQ controls

OVERVIEW

GW Player Mk. II is a deliberately tactile desktop player. The interface borrows the density and directness of physical hi-fi equipment: labelled transport controls, visible state, mechanical feedback, and a spectrum display that reacts to the audio.

It plays local MP3, FLAC, AAC, OGG, Opus, and WAV files. An embedded YouTube Music bay can be controlled through the same transport, EQ, volume, balance, and visualiser.

THE BUILD

Electron handles the desktop shell and media integration; React and TypeScript drive the interface; Web Audio provides the 10-band EQ, gain, balance, analyser, and source hand-off.

The app has working macOS and Windows packages, end-to-end smoke paths for local audio and the embedded media bridge, and a production build that typechecks cleanly.

WHAT'S NOVEL

Local files and embedded streaming audio share one signal surface. Starting one source pauses the other, and the same controls apply to both.

The visual language is not a skin placed over generic controls. Pressed states sink into their bezels, sliders tick, switches latch, and the interface behaves like the object it depicts.
